Pet Foods
Human food is what most dogs like best and most will beg for food as you sit to eat your meals. Many dog owners do offer their pets the occasional bite of their food. Pet dog owners need to understand that they need to play it safe when it comes to offering food to their pets.
You need to look out for what is good or bad for your pet and ensure that they stay safe and healthy. Follow a proper diet schedule and you will be able to enjoy your pet and avoid those unwanted vet bills.
FOODS THAT DOGS SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN
Sugar: Not good for dogs in any form.
Check labels when buying pet treats.
Chocolate: Never give your
dog chocolate. It can cause frequent urination, vomiting, or
diarrhea. To compound matters, chocolate can make your dog's
heartbeat speed up or beat irregularly which can result in seizures
or cardiac arrest.
Onions: Avoid onions as they can damage red blood cells in dogs. If you are tempted to give your pet a taste of your food then make sure it does not have onions in the recipe.
Grapes: Grapes can mess-up your dog's kidneys and digestive system.
Caffeinated Beverages: can be toxic and affect the heart and nervous systems of your pet dog.
Raw Fish: should not be feed to dogs. Make sure fish is cooked so that all bacteria are killed before feeding it to your dog.
Raisins: As grapes, raisins can also mess-up your dog's kidneys and digestive system.
Bones: Don’t feed your dog bones as they can obstruct your dog’s digestive system.
Milk: Some dogs can have problems with milk products and suffer from diarrhea. If milk products are not suitable to your dog then Lactose free milk products are available for your pet. Check with your vet.
Cat Food: Do not give your pet dog food that is specifically marketed for cats. Foods for cats are usually high in protein and fat and meant for cats and not dogs.
Check
Food Amount:
Don't overfeed your pet dog. Its not good for your dog as it will only make your pet obese.
Feeding your pet the proper amount of food at preset intervals is the correct way to keep your pet healthy. Needless to say a healthy pet will bring peace and joy to you and your family.
Check with your vet the amount of food your pet should be fed. Remember to take into account all those treats through out the day that you may be feeding your pet.
Dog treats: are fine from your dog’s taste point and are useful in training your pet.
However keep in mind that these commercial treats are not nutritious and should never be used as a substitute for a balanced meal.
Try and limit the use of commercial pet treats.
